Pod 2 students studied Mexican day of the dead artworks and made a series of prints with Zart foam. They completed a written evaluation of each print to figure out its strengths and weaknesses. This helped them to determine the best features of each print to cut out and combine in a three dimensional collage. Well done pod 2!
Pod three students learned the principles of 2 point perspective drawing then designed a city. They added colour to their city in a style inspired by artist Marc Allante. We made multiple copies of their city’s to play around with the inks and kids really enjoyed experimenting with the effects they could produce!
Grade one and two children looked at how many different ways we could draw trees! We talked about harmonious “neighbour” colours and how to colour oil pastels over the top of each other to blend and make new colours. We used listening skills to create a background and 3D sticking techniques to make our trees stand out! Well done on a fantastic effort Pod 1!
Preps have been doing lots of experiments to work out how to mix secondary colours. Some of our questions were:
-how do you make green?
-what do red and yellow make?
-if you mix a colour with paint, do you mix it the same way with dye?
We set up lots of tables with experiments to find out this and lots more!
In Pod 2 art we have been making bird houses! We designed them and constructed them out of cardboard boxes. Then we used two layers of modroc to cover them! To do Modroc we used strips of plaster and dipped them in warm water. Then we put it on the cardboard box and rubbed the plaster until it was smooth. Next we painted them and planned our decorations. We designed our decorations and tried to use pattern and make them symmetrtical.
